Under regular circumstances, the responsibility and duties of the president of an Islamic Center would be to make sure the business is running smoothly, keep the staff accountable, make sure employees (including Imam) are suitable and qualified for the positions, providing a safe environment for all who come for prayer, educational classes and any events held at the Islamic Center.
The responsibility of the Imam is to be the most knowledgeable in the community, lead the congregation in daily prayers, and live honest and upright lifestyle in accordance with Qur’an and Hadith.
Unfortunately, when you have a corrupt President, the corruption then follows with the type of people he chooses to hire. In our case, at Islamic Center of Reseda (ICR) AKA “Masjid Reseda”, the president’s duties have changed to __________ which means the Imams responsibilities are to _________.
Unfortunately, the lack of investigation for an Imam has put the women in our congregation at risk because of his long history of sexually abusing women in other communities he has been hired as Imam for.
In addition, he has stolen money from these same Islamic Centers and was fired from his positions as Imam, because of touching women and stealing money.
